From February 11, 2012 - February 18, 2012, we called the Gran Melia Resort in Rio Grand, Puerto Rico, home. Besides losing some money gambling at the resort casino (hey- we got free t-shirts!) and a couple departure-gate glitches at the airport, we had a stress and problem-free vacation. The best kind!
At the Resort
Our bungalow was literally steps from the beach. The pool-area was amazing, and we definitely took advantage of the wet-bar! We also spent many many hours reading in hammocks on the beach and playing Scrabble on the Kindle (Grandma Koller would be so proud!)
Wildlife Friends
Iguanas everywhere! Rumor has it they’re a nuisance on the island because they were brought in as pets and some were let loose in the wild. Because they have no natural predators in PR, they’ve over-populated the island. We were told they’re legalizing iguana hunting soon to help tame the population.
At The Beach
Our resort was located on Coco Beach in Rio Grande, and because much of that coast area is undeveloped, we could walk quite a long way (miles?) along a completely deserted beach. Heaven!
